The changing landscape of Bingo….

Bingo has undergone a dramatic change over the last year. Originally characterised by smoky bingo halls and purple rinses, it has emerged into an online phenomenon, with the negative connotations all but disappeared. Bingo’s street credibility has undergone a remarkable turnaround, with online community and chat sites making it a great way to make new friends and compete to win with your online buddies.

Celebrity endorsement has gone a long way to changing the way people view Bingo. Sharon Osborne for Gala and more recently Katie Price for Foxy have created an awareness to an audience that would otherwise have been untapped. The Sun and Ann Summers have also developed their own online bingo sites, attracting a whole new cliental altogether!

Perhaps one of the biggest influences in the transformation has been the implementation of the smoking ban. Visitors to bingo halls characteristically enjoyed a smoke whilst playing their favourite game on a Friday night. However, since the ban came into effect in July, people have started to turn to the home for entertainment, where they can have a smoke and play online at their own leisure.

This is good news for us online bingo lovers because it means that we are now spoilt for choice with online bingo halls and promotions are flooding in. The future of bingo is, thanks to the internet, looking very bright indeed!
