Bingo player becomes local hero after sharing her Gala High 5 £669,242 jackpot with 136 other players
A Paisley based bingo lover has become a local hero thanks to Gala Bingo’s newest game Gala High 5. As part of the game, the winner shared half of her massive £669,242 jackpot with all of the club’s members playing the game that day, making Paisley one of the luckiest bingo clubs in the country.
The great win came on Wednesday 23rd January when she was playing with other members across the UK in the Gala High 5 game. When calling house on the number 5, the lucky local scooped 50 per cent of the jackpot (£334,621) and shared the other half with the 173 members in the club at the time – meaning everyone else walked away with £1,934 just for playing the game at that club.
The Gala High 5 game was launched as a direct result of the new Gambling Act which now allows bingo clubs to run cumulative jackpots. There have since been 5 jackpot wins and over twenty 10% winners.
A total of £3,411,280 has now been paid out as a result of the Gala High 5 game, which creates more winners more often. It follows on from Gala Bingo’s million pound jackpot game, KerChingo, which was won five months ago.
The Gala High 5 win came as a huge surprise to the lucky local who initially thought she’d only won the full house prize of £8,000 but because she called house on the number 5, her win rocketed to £334,621 and left other club members reaching for the champagne when realising they’d won too.
Peter Connor, Club manager, Paisley comments: “We’re delighted to have a jackpot winner of Gala High 5 in our club. The way the game works is very simple; if ‘house’ is called on number 5, players can claim 50 per cent of the rollover jackpot, whilst the remaining 50 per cent is shared by all the other players at the club. There’s another chance to win if members call ‘house’ on a number ending with a five. For example, number 85, where 10 per cent of the total cash is awarded to that player, the rest of the jackpot rolls over to the next game.”
