Reuters is reporting that European Union (EU) companies with an interest in the current World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute dealing with compensatory action against the US over its intentions to withdraw from agreements covering online gambling may becoming increasingly impatient with how things are progressing.
With a decision on the dispute now delayed till December 14, online bingo companies are becoming increasingly concerned as to what the outcome will be. Many online gaming companies saw profits and value cut by billions after the US implemented legislation that shut down financial transactions with online gambling companies.
EU online gambling companies are now pressurizing EU trade chief Peter Mandelson to now go directly to the US Congress with the issue during his upcoming visit to Washington in early November as bingo online stands to benefit should the EU gain favourable compensation from the US.
A spokesperson for Mandelson said, "The European Commission continues to strive for the best possible compensation deal for European service providers."
